Ingersoll watches were established in 1892 but by the turn of the 20th century, Ingersoll were one of the first companies to take watch manufacturing into a new more modern level by producing quality and accurate yet inexpensive mechanical watches through mass production, manufacturing and selling over 20 million Ingersoll watches in the first two decades.

The original Ingersoll Watch Company however, became bankrupt just after the First World War during the time of great recession and was bought by the Waterbury Clock Company in 1921 and was then acquired by US Time in 1944 who later became Timex.

These days Ingersoll are just as famous for the watches they created in the past as opposed to the watches they now manufacture and many models of Ingersoll watches from the early generations still survive today and are seen as collector's items, such as vintage Mickey Mouse watches.
