Animal Watches were the brainchild of two surfers who first invented robust straps in 1987 for their watches due to the many breakages and losses of their watches whilst surfing. After much experimentation they soon designed a webbing and Velcro watch strap which could withstand the stresses and strains of surfing and they produced a small number of these straps which they then began selling to fellow surfers.

The money raised through selling the straps funded the pairs surf trips around the world where they also found more customers and before long they has raised enough money to produce the first Animal watches which were robust, water resistant and designed to reflect the extreme sports lifestyle.

Soon these Animal watches were in demand not only by surfers but also by sportsmen in other fields such as mountain bikers, windsurfers, kite surfers and snowboarders and other extreme sports and today Animal watches are now a well known and recognised brand of watches worldwide.
