Cycling Champion Philippe Gilbert Wears Ice Watch

This weekend saw Philippe Gilbert finally take the Belgian national title after being on the podium in four out of the last five years.

An aggressive ride saw Gilbert begin his attack around 2 kilometers from the finish as other riders struggled to keep up with his sudden burst of pace. As the race unfolded Gianni Meersman's stamina saw him close the gap slowly but Gilbert held on, crossing the line just seconds ahead of Meersman to clinch his first national title.

After the race Gilbert said, "This is certainly the best year of my career", and revealed that he did not believe he had actually won the race untill the final few meters.

During the presentation ceremony Philippe Gilbert was clearly pictured wearing an Ice Watch as he kissed his winners medal.

The watch worn by Gilbert is a Ice-Watch Unisex Big Red Dial White Silicon Strap Watch, model number SI.WD.B.S, which is a white silicone watch with a red face and a rotating bezel. He wore the Ice Watch throughout the entire race so its likely that he used it to time his winning challenge !
