Casio Singles Out Unauthorised Watch Retailers in China

According to Beijing Business Today, yesterday Japanese watch giant Casio issued a statement saying that some online sellers and consumer websites in mainland china are selling Casio watches under the guise of calling themselves official or authorised Casio watch sellers.

The statement went on to say that there are in fact only 4 authorised online Casio watch stockists in China which included Acorn International, (TV informercial sellers), Suning (Consumer electronics online retailers), Taobao, (Online shopping) and CJ Shanghai Oriental Television (Shopping channel). According to the statement all other sellers are operating illegally.

3 online retailers were then singled out in the statement, with Casio claiming that all 3 are unauthorized sellers of Casio watches - they are Amazon.cn (previously Joyo.com), Dangdang and Jingdong Mall (360Buy), which happen to be 3 of the biggest multi product online retailers in China.

According to BBT neither of the 3 companies responded directly to Casio regarding saying that they were authorized or licenced, to sell Casio watches, but all confirmed that the Casio watches they were selling were genuine.

All 3 websites are still advertising Casio watches for sale and it is thought that the next step for Casio is to take legal action in order to protect their brand.
