Casio G-Shock Watch Used By Undercover Police

According to The Guardian the undercover policeman at the centre of todays Crown Prosecution Service controversy used a modified Casio G-Shock watch to record converstions of the suspects in the gang of activists that he infiltrated.

Mark Kennedy, the policeman who worked undercover for 7 years as 'Mark Stone' gathering evidence against a gang of activists was eventually outed in 2009 when he was arrested along with over 100 other suspects who it is alleged where planning to shut down Britain's biggest coal fueled power station based at Ratcliffe-on-Soar in Nottinghamshire.

Today several newspapers and TV news bulletins reported that possibility that the Crown Prosecution Service withheld evidence during the trial of six of the activists and the Guardian reports that the evidence is in the form of recorded conversations taken from the Casio watch.

Like something out of a James Bond movie, the watch is said to have been modified to enable it to take recordings at a cost of around £7,000 and could be used to download the recordings on a police computer. The modified Casio G Shock watch was then used to take voice recordings of the meeting in 2009 where 114 activists discussed raiding the power station.

The Guardian claims to have evidence that suggests it was the Crown Prosecution Service that withheld the recording.Yesterday the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed that they have opened an internal enquiry based on the allegations.
