Animal first started out by designing watch straps, after the founders continuously lost their watches in the water while surfing. They designed a webbing strap fastened with Velcro which was strong and did not break, they sold them to friends and soon realised that the straps would be great for many other sporting disciplines. The straps soon became a huge success and bought about the birth of Animal, who has since designed their own range of robust sports watches, eyewear, luggage, footwear and accessories.

The Animal team pursue many sports including surfing, mountain biking, windsurfing, snowboarding and kite surfing, testing each watch design and putting them through the vigour's of each sporting discipline. This makes sure that every Animal timepiece that comes to market does so having been thoroughly tested so you can purchase one with the knowledge that it won'™t let you down when you need it the most; Bringing about there motto "Engineered by Animals and Tested on Humans".

Animal watches are incredibly robust for watches at these price points, with most Animal watches sporting 200m water resistance, which means the case is of a high grade marine steel with screw down case backs and crowns and the lens is of the toughed variety. All Animal watches use quartz movements in various flavours, with simple 3 hand calendar designs right through to sports chronograph models. There is little doubt as to the construction quality of the straps, incredibly strong and the reason why Animal came to be.
